*rant*---------------- so I officially messed this picture up it was only supposed to be junk lineart for me to practice coloring on....I used markers for the first time (no, not the super fancy $3 a piece kind), specifically the 'each' marker
when I began coloring it, I used markers but then Sakura's feet looked more and more like steamed lobster, so I quit markers and went back to my basic crayola pencils when I should have used my prismacolors
Gah! I'm so angry at myself for that. It was decent lineart that I messed up *end of rant*---------------------------
so yeah, that self-angry rant should explain why this is now in grayscale
this is a scene from the next chapter of Morbid Curiosity [link]
funny thing, I haven't typed it yet, but this is gonna happen in some way
I just love how Sakura has Hidan eating out of her palm in this story. And he doesn't believe that he's at her mercy. Hehe. We girls know how to get the things we want.

That stinks. Good way to practice with them is to scan your lineart first. you can print the lineart for practice. Even those fancy shmancy markers can be waaay too bright. If you use a bowl with a tiny bit of water, you can dip them in and tone the colors down. However....you'd probably be better off just playing with cheap watercolors...$5-10 for an entire set..and you can mix the colors to get the exact shades you want.

yeah, normally I scan things first, but I wasn't planning to do anything with this since it was meant to be practice, but I'm scanning everything I do now before coloring ....and I would think that watercolors would cause the ink to bleed...hmmm...I already have a good set, I think I'll try them. Thanks!
NP It depends on the ink. I've seen people use watercolors on inked work...in fact... I was looking through a while back and found a couple of good tutorials. Both start with inked lines...one is ink and pencil, though. [link] [link]

I'll try those tutorials, and post the results soon. THe first one is much more thorough then the second, but I guess, instead of using ball-point pens, I can just go over the paint if the lines get covered as well as trying to clean it off. I think I could pull this off with really thin layers of acrylic as well ^_^
